Barber Weekly Update

ACADEMIC CONNECTION:
All students were issued lockers last week and Monday was the first day they began to use them
regularly. Students will receive regular locker breaks based on grade level needs. Please discuss
keeping the locker organized with your child. Book bags must now stay in the locker during academic classes.
Make sure to check agendas each night and blogs if you are able. The expectation is that students write their homework for each class in the agenda.

The Fine Arts Department at Barber Middle School is off to an exciting start to the school
year! Many of our 6th Grade students have joined at least one Performing ensemble including Band, Chorus, Dance, and Orchestra. There will be an informational meeting for new
Band and Orchestra Parents on August 18 at 7:00pm in the Barber Auditorium.
For 8th Grade Performing Arts students that are planning on attending the Disney Trip
May 12-15, the $200 deposit and contract are due before September 4.
RSP starts today! You must have turned in your application and received a congratulations
letter with a link to sign up for RSP clubs to start on Monday. If your student is attending
in the morning, you may drop them off no earlier than 7:00 a.m. If your student is attending the afternoon session, you must pick your student up no later than 6:15 p.m. and come
into the office to sign your child out. Your student may attend both sessions. If you are interested in RSP and have not completed an application, you may pick one up at the front
office. You may attend after you receive a congratulations letter. For any questions, please

Remember students to get your PTSA membership in order to attend the Membership
Dance on September 15, 2015.
Sunday, September 20th is Georgia PTA Family Day with the Atlanta Braves. Braves take
on the Phillies. Ticket order forms will be sent home this week and will also be on the PTSA
blog. All orders will need to be turned in by September 1st. NO late orders will be accepted.
