The Sarmatians of the Northern Black Sea Coast region in the historical works
of XIX the first third of XX c.
In the article the works of XIX the first third of XX centuries are analyzed, in which the
history of the Sarmatians of the Northern Black Sea Coast region is considered. There is the review of
the thoughts there, which are characterized by the conceptual approach to the reconstruction of these
nomads history in the researches of given problem.

Historal traditions of the Black Sea politics in the documents of B.Khmelnytskyi
In the article the basic principles of B.Khmelnytskyis politics towards the Black Sea have been
shown by using the sources of the middle of XVIIth century, which contain the informathion on the main
tasks and on evolution of the politics. The author has stressed the importance of the Black See problem
for Cossack-Hetman State (Hetmanate).

The unknown author of illustrative materials contained in Rigelman's "The
annalistic narration about Little Russia" and "The History of Don Cossacks"
Connections between Ukrainian and Don Cossacks in sphere of iconography and portrait painting
in second half of XVIII centuries are analyzed. The attempt to determine the author of illustrations
from the first editions of historical works of A. Rigelman is made. The art and the source value of
illustrations is considered.

In article it is told about a role of descendants of Cossack elite of Left-Bank Ukraine in a history
of Odessa at the end of XVIII in the first half of XIX c. The special attention has been paid to
that representatives of the descendants, who held high posts in local authorities, belonged to economic and
cultural elite of city and substantially promoted its development.

regiments in 1863-1864
In the article on the basis of the unpublished documents the author has considered the process of
establishment and service of the irregular Cossck troops in 1863-1864 at the Left-Bank Ukraine. It
has been found out, that they were created for participation in pacificacation of Polish national
movement at the beginning of 1860-ties, but were not used for mentioned purpose. The service of
Ukrainian (malorossian) horse Cossack district had a police character and was not long.

was remarkable event in the life of Ukrainian population in Odesa and Odesa region. The newspaper
with specifical editarial policy was oriented not only to military professionals, but to other social groups.

Anatoliy Bachynsky
Zadunajska (Trans Danube) Sich and Russia: last quarter of XVIII c.
Offered article was submitted by Bachyns'ky A. D. in 1993 to "The transactions of Odessa
Archeological society", but it was not published at the time. Article was written in Russian. In the given
edition it is offered in the Ukrainian translation, author's style and the notes are saved.
In the artical the problem of attitude of Russian empire to existence of Trans Danube Siche is
discovered, the means by which Russian government tried to liquidate community of Trans Danubian
Cossacks are found out. In the end of article the documents from Russian State Archive of the Old Acts
are offered which are printed for the first time and confirm conclusions of the author.
