ABSTRACT
Most of gas injection method in EOR project is using CO2 for the injected gas. CO2 can be
obtained from the atmosphere or the industrial residue such as coal power plant. Recently,
Indonesia has been developing Carbon Capture Storage pioneer project or broadly known as
Carbon Capture Sequestration (CCS) in Gundih. The captured CO2 is injected from a
produced well to the reservoir and stored there. Storing the carbon is not as easy as imagined,
the process must be perfectly set and monitored to make sure there is no leakage. As the
problem handled, the proof shows that the technology succeeded to enhance oil production
while the 40 70 % of injected CO2 is still stored in reservoir. Therefore the CCS-EOR joint
project in oil field will unravel the issues about enhancing as well as reducing CO2 emissions
to the atmosphere.
