Introduction
Introduction
This dictionary is a reconstruction from the Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew and
English Lexicon, first printing March 1996. The Masoretic (Jewish scholars) marks
(vowels) are removed from each of the words as well as other known vowel additions,
thus returning the vocabulary as closely as possible to its original consonantal form.
Also the block Aramaic script is transliterated back into Paleo-Hebrew, and the
vocabulary is then combined and alphabetized. The resulting dictionary produces
sections for two-letter, three-letter, and words with other sized amounts.
This process provides an assistance in going back to the beginning of the
decipherment of the Hebrew language as the archaeological evidence presents it. This
allows ancient and Biblical texts to be checked against alternative translations in
verification of accuracy. And this also provides a base from which to perform testing
within the vocabulary itself for correctness, consistency and identification of foreign
influences imposed upon and added throughout the course of history.
The transliteration from Aramaic to Hebrew allows a view of what each word means
in its potential ideographic context. The star of David is then recognized from the
name of David in its ancient spelling dwd as one of the more popular examples.
The Hebrew vocabulary is recognized as being incomplete and in an imperfect
condition. Yet this reconstruction provides a foundation from which to initiate a
restoration of its full potential. And this in turn will lead to a re-evaluation of textual
translation and interpretation.
ADDED NOTE
This edition was preserved, but not the Paleo-Hebrew font. As a result there are
other characters in place of some letters. A conversion chart is provided to help with
the confusion until I can fully restore the manuscript.
