Franais II: Chapitre 3: Projet de la Nourriture

Objectives: By the end of this project, you will be able to:

present information on French foods
create a recipe, in French, of customary French food
cook a French dish to share with the class
draw a map and flag of the country that your food is from
create a presentation in French to introduce your dish to the class
Imagine that a group of exchange students just arrived from a Francophone country (Canada, France,
Belgium, Luxembourg, or any of the French-speaking countries of Africa). You want to make their first
day as comfortable as possible, so you decide to create a dish that they will recognize from home.
Project Setup: This project will require working on three assignments: a presentation, writing out a French
recipe card, and cooking a traditional dish.
Assignment: A) The first part of the project is to research a particular food from any Francophone country.
The research must include:
the name of the food
the country the food is from
a drawing of the map of the country the food comes from
a drawing of the flag of the country the food comes from
a picture of what the food looks like
when, where, and why this food is eaten (breakfast, lunch, dinner, eaten at
home, at a party or for a special festival, etc.)
This information will be presented to the class on Thursday, June 4th through Friday, June 5th. It must
include a 5-minute oral presentation of research. The research can be presented in one of two ways:
1. a poster that includes all of the information listed above
a. the poster must be well-organized and show effort; it must NOT include your entire
presentation in writing
2. a Power Point presentation or Prezi, etc. that includes all the information listed above
a. the presentation must have a minimum of 5 slides or views
b. each slide must include a maximum of 15 words (keeping with the point of the visual aid
to be an outline on which to further elaborate)
B) The second part of the assignment is to create a recipe card in French. The recipe must include:
the name of the dish
correct French spelling, punctuation and grammar
a picture (drawn or found) of the food on the back of the recipe card
all of the proper measurements in metric terms
The recipe card is due on Friday, June 5th.
C) The third part of the assignment is to cook a traditional Francophone dishand to bring it in to share
