planets are orbiting the Sun.

Earth

Earth is the third planet from the Sun. Earth

have one natural satellite, Moon. Its the fifth
biggest planet in the Solar System. Earth also
the most dense planet.

Moon

Moon orbits the Earth. Moon is the Earths

only natural satellite. It also takes 27 days
for Moon to rotate once on its axis. The
Moon has no atmosphere. The Moon does
not seem to be spinning but appears to
observers from Earth to be keeping almost
perfectly still.

Tidal Flood

Recent Condition

The government made a lot of of solutions

to overcome the flood. However, at the
end, the solution was negative. Many dykes
have been damaged and broken. Because
of it, many people threatened by the flood.

Ideal Condition

Ideally, the tides dont cause tidal flooding.

Since there are already dikes by the toast.
The dikes are there to prevent the tides
from reaching dry land and causing tidal
flood. Also, ideally the land subsidence rate
per year only reaches mm. Which means,
theres not that much high rise buildings in
the area also over pumping of ground
water.

Benefit of this Project

The River Dyke will help a lot of people who

live near the sea it will help prevent the
surrounding from flooding.

Not like Giant Sea Wall, this river dyke will

have some space so the fisherman can still
fishing

Theories

Tides

Tides are the rise and fall of sea level

caused by the gravitational forces exerted
by the Moon on the Earth.

During one day, the Earth areas will

experience two high tides and two low tides

How did Tides Happen?

Tides main cause is the Moons gravity, even

though the Suns gravity also influences them

Point C on the Earth is the shortest distance to

the moon, it causes the seawater in C to the
strongest moons gravity. The seawater at C area
will experience high tide.

When A and C

tide, B and D will
experience a low tide
as the water is pulled
to A and C

Tides bring advantages for people

-To make it easier for the ship to sail and

anchor.

- During the low tide, the seawater contains

salt so we have a salt on the beach

-The water movement between High and Low

tide is used to move a turbine which
produces electrical energy

Cause of tides

The cause of tides it that the moon pulls

sea water towards it because of its gravity.
This causes the water to bulge in the
direction which the moon is, and in the
opposite direction of the pulled water.

Effect of Tides

negative =causes flood in some areas, such as

Jakarta.
In Jakarta, flood happens because the land is
sinking to the sea a little bit, which causes the
water to pour over some areas.
Flood causes skin problems, destroying paddy
fields, diarrhea, and trash to be everywhere.

What Have The Government Did To

Overcome The Problem

In Jakarta, the government is now planning

to create a giant sea wall which prevents
flood from happening.

Our Solution

We will make a river dike

We will improve todays levee by putting

poles in the ground to support the levees
strength.

How is Our Solution

Effective

By making a river dike, fisherman can still

be able to work at sea.

Doesnt disturb the ecosystem.

Conclusion

By understanding about the causes, effects, and

problems that are caused by flood, we can come
up with solutions that will solve todays tide
related problems, which in our project is flood.
This project is related to the focus question,
since the sun moon Earth phenomena has a
structure. The cause of structural change in this
project is because of the moon, which causes
tides to happen.
