MINI HYDRAULIC VICE

SYNOPSIS

As far as hydraulic vice is concerned it cannot be thought out to meet our

requirements exactly. So all able concerns design and produce vicees to meets its
requirements by varying characteristics such as load, viceure developed, stroke length,
day light, throat etc.

This hydraulic vice is designed for a capacity of 25 tons at a viceure of 130

kg/cm. These types of vicees are used where large viceure at a slow speed for operations
like farming, drawing operations etc., is needed. The introduction, types of vicees, types
of drive, and design are deal with in separate chapters with drawings.

INTRODUCTION

Generally the viceing operations are done by means of a hand, mechanical,

hydraulic or pneumatic vice.

The hydraulic vicees have longer strokes than mechanical vicees and develop full
tonnage throughout the entire stroke. However, the capacity of these vicees is readily
adjustable and only a fraction of tonnage may be used. Also length of stroke may be
adjusted to whatever is needed. No skill is required as even a semi skilled man could
operate this machine continuously on the production basis.

WORKING OF THE UNIT

The high viceurized oil from the power pack is sent one end of the cylinder
through the rubber hose. The oil acts on the piston and thus moves it away. Process goes
on and the entire side of the cylinder is with oil and thus moving the piston to its extreme
when the piston moves to its extreme position it the limit switch and it passes signal to
the power. When this signal is got by the power pack it pumps oil the next side of the
cylinder. When the oil acts on the side of the piston, it starts to return to its original
during this operation the oil which has been pumped is sent back to the tank.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

ADVANTAGES:

1.

Hydraulic vice develops greater forces than mechanical viceure and hence it is
for forming, bending, and drawing and extrusion operations.

2.

The hydraulic vice can exert its full forces at any position of the ram stroke
whereas the force is maximum at the end of stroke in mechanical vice.

3.

The sliding action of the punch slide is uniform.

4.

The length of stroke can be varied even within small ranges.

5.

No noise, no vibrations and hence smooth operation.

6.

Stroke length and position of stroke can be varied easily.

7.

Wide speed ranges.

8.

Inertia losses are less.

DISADVANTAGES

1.

Initial cost is high.

2.

High maintenance cost.
