There are a few measurements that were taken that were not shown on the Bluehill output.

I will
post them on Blackboard, but they are as follows and will help you calculate the percent
elongation and the reduction in area.
Aluminum:
initial length = 2.0 inches
final length = 2.095 inches
initial width = 0.5 inches
final width = 0.488 inches
initial thickness = 0.125 inches
final thickness = 0.116 inches
Steel:
initial length = 2.0 inches
final length = 2.672 inches
initial width = 0.5 inches
final width = 0.451 inches
initial thickness = 0.125 inches
final thickness = 0.114 inches

Modulus of Resilience:

Modulus of Elasticity (Youngs Modulus):

Percent Elongation:

Percent Reduction of Area:

Yield Strength:
Can determine from graphical output from Bluehill Software where the plot transitions from the
elastic (linear) to the plastic (nonlinear) region.
Ultimate Tensile Strength:
Can be determined from graphical output from Bluehill Software at the maximum strength level of
the graph.
Modulus of Toughness:
Is the area under the stress-strain curve.
