NITA SITI NURJANAH. 2015. A comparison of mathematic students problem

solving that the study using Problem Based Learning and Contextual Teaching
Learning model (A research at Seventh grade of SMPN 1 Cikoneng). Mathematic
Education Department. Faculty of Teaching and Educational Sciences Siliwangi University
Tasikmalaya.
The aim of this research is to know that is there any differences of mathematic
students problem solving ability between using Problem Based Learning and Contextual
Teaching Learning model, and to know what steps the students have difficulty to complete
questions of problem solving. The method used in this research is an experimental research.
The population of this research is all the students of seventh grade at SMPN 1 Cikoneng.
Sample of this research taken two class using purposive and random sampling techniques
from all students of seventh grade. VII D as experiment class 1 using Problem Based
Learning model with 34 students and VII F as the experiment class 2 using Contextual
Teaching Learning with 34 students. The instrument used in this research is form about
mathematical problem solving test, assignment individual and group assignment. The
technique of analysing data used hypothesis test with two similarity average (t-test) and
calculate the difficulties problem solving ability. The conclusion of this research is that there
is differences of mathematic students problem solving ability between using Problem Based
Learning and Contextual Teaching Learning model and the big difficulties faced by the
students to do mathematics problem solving matters is the fourth step with 82,36%
percentage at experiment class 1 and 83,86% at experiment class 2.
