Advanced Methods in Epidemiology

Dear students,
Welcome to the course Advanced Methods in Epidemiology, 3FH034, 5 ECTS.
The in-class teaching on the course is given during the two weeks in autumn 2015, i.e. Week
42 and Week 43 from October 12 23, 2015.
The focus of this course is to provide students with deeper knowledge of advanced methods
in epidemiology, focusing on issues such as potential pitfalls in causal research, and different
regression modelling strategies in epidemiological data analysis. Teaching is conducted
through lectures, computer sessions and individual assignments. All teachings are in
English. The computer sessions are compulsory, and therefore are pre-requisites for the final
examination. The final written examination itself will be given on Saturday, October 31,
2015, 09.00-15.00. You can leave the exam hall as soon as you finish the exam.
We attach the course schedule and the course syllabus. In addition to research articles that
will be distributed during the course, we suggest you to get access to the following textbook.
Vach W. Regression Models as a Tool in Medical Research. 1st Edition. Chapman &
Hall/CRC. 2013.
