Assume that all of available gas phase C is in C II, which implies that Adust = 0, therefore the fractional
depletion of carbon in our problem is 0; since (X) = 1 10D(X) , D(X) = 0, which make sense because we
assume C II is all gas phase. This assumption does not agree very well with the expected average values in
figure 2.7 and table 2.2.

The assumption that all of the available gas phase carbon ins in C II is not very reasonable as the result
doesnt agree very well with the expected average value. Considering that only a tiny fraction of the hydrogen
column density toward Sco is atomic, it is unlikey that they will interact with C II density.
