Optimal Learning Model

Modeling hooks students onto a topic and gets them curious. The teacher
demonstrates a strategy relating to reading through showing the class stepby-step.
Shared Practice teacher clears up any confusion left over from the modeling
piece. The teacher actually makes an example of the strategy being taught.
Guided Practice class works together to make an example of the strategy.
The teacher asks clarifying questions in order to assure clear understanding.
Independent Practice student works individually to create his or her own
piece of the work to show the strategy. The teacher is still present to assist
with lingering questions.

way to provide background information, spark interest, or stimulate emotion on a
subject.
