LO 3.A.1: EXPLAIN THE CORE AMERICAN BELIEFS, VALUES,

AND NORMS THAT DEFINE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
CITIZENS AND GOVERNMENT AND CITIZENS WITH EACH
OTHER.

The American government was built on the concept of

liberty. When the declaration of independence was put into
power the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
was an unalienable right given to everyone. Later on when
the constitution was put in power, other beliefs like equal
opportunity, limited government, and rule of law were
established. Limited government means that there is no
monarchy and that there is no one branch of government
that has more power than the other. Equal opportunity
means that each person should be treated equally no
matter race or gender. Rule of law means that each person
is accountable to the same interpretation of the constitution
under court law

LO 3.A.2: EVALUATE THE INFLUENCE OF VARIOUS

FACTORS IN POLITICAL ATTITUDES AND
SOCIALIZATION.

A persons political attitudes and opinion of government is

impacted by many things throughout the persons life. A
person is either going to love, hate, or not care about the
government. The persons family and their ideals can
influence their view on government. Their friends, teachers,
mentors, elders can influence them. The type of education a
person gets can influence them. Tv, the internet, and social
media are also things that can change a persons view on
government and influence them.

LO 3.A.3: ANALYZE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN

21ST CENTURY GLOBALIZATION AND AMERICAN
POLITICAL, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL VALUES.

Technology has greatly influenced and pushed political

ideas and actions. With the use of the internet and social
media, the connection between the citizens of the US and
the government is so much tighter than what it was before.
The use of television has helped the government reach
greater amounts of people and even helped some
presidents win elections. The fact that social media lets
people around the world see what you are saying greatly
influences the social views that people have today.

LO 4.A.1: EVALUATE THE IMPACT THAT PUBLIC

OPINION AND SCIENTIFIC POLLING HAVE ON
ELECTIONS AND POLICY DEBATES.

People like to see facts more often than opinions but an

opinion can change or influence a persons views. Scientific
polling helps people see the facts of an election, like the
percentage of people who are voting for a specific
president. Public opinion on the other hand lets people
discuss and understand another persons views based on
their political beliefs and then try to relate it to their own
political beliefs.

LO 3.B.1: ANALYZE HOW POLITICAL CULTURE

INFLUENCES THE FORMATION, GOALS, AND
IMPLEMENTATION OF PUBLIC POLICY.

Political culture is supposed to be centered around the

public. Their decisions are supposed to be made to make
the public happy and make the demands of the public come
true. Since there is such a huge population of people in the
US there has to be a discussion and decision made. The
connects the public to the government in that the voice of
the people is being heard and the government does its job
to answer to that voice.

LO 3.C.1: COMPARE HOW POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES

VARY ON THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT IN
REGULATING THE MARKETPLACE.

Political ideologies on the role of government in regulating

the marketplace comes down to the party of the official. It
depends on whether the person is a democrat, republican,
conservative, libertarian, etc. Usually libertarians want a
regulated economy to prevent monopolies while
conservatives would rather have self regulated economy
which allows an individual to reap major benefits and take
away the opportunity of others. The libertarian official also
would favor a free market.

LO 3.C.2: COMPARE HOW POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES

VARY WITH REGARD TO THE ROLE OF
GOVERNMENT IN ADDRESSING SOCIAL ISSUES.

Between democrats and republicans, republicans tend to be

the more conservative ones while democrats crave change
and are more progressive. Things like Obama care are more
favored by democrats because it helps a majority of people
while a republican would oppose such a thing. Democrats
usually approve of things that benefit a majority of people
in many ways while republicans

LO 4.D.1: SUMMARIZE THE VOTING RIGHTS

PROTECTIONS IN THE CONSTITUTION AND IN
LEGISLATION.

The 15th amendment was added to the constitution allowing

a male of any race who is a US citizen the right to vote
under the Voting Right Act. Later on the 19 th amendment
was added and it allowed womens suffrage. When the 26 th
amendment was added, people from the age of 18 or older
where granted the right to vote. This doesnt mean that all
people in the US were able to vote though.

LO 4.D.2: ANALYZE THE ROLES THAT INDIVIDUAL

CHOICE AND STATE LAWS PLAY IN VOTER
TURNOUT IN ELECTIONS.

Voter I.D. laws, age, and education all play a big role in
voter turnout in elections. Voter I.D. laws state that a
person cannot vote in presidential elections if he or she
does not have proof of age and US citizenship. Age
determines whether or not a person is more likely to vote.
Younger people usually dont vote while older people are
more likely to vote. The education a person gets also
influences the view a person has of what the government
should be doing. Voter turnout is greatly affected by all of
this because younger people dont usually vote and that
greatly affects the outcome of the presidential election.
Closed elections also lower the voter turnout because a
person might not be able to choose the candidate they
want.

LO 4.D.3: ANALYZE U.S. VOTER TURNOUT AND

COMPARE IT WITH THAT IN OTHER
DEMOCRACIES.

The US voter turnout is very low compared to other

countries. Two countries with very high voter turnout are
Belgium and Australia. Both of these countries have a voter
turnout of 70% while the US has a voter turnout of only
40%. This is because in other countries it might be looked
down on or punishable to not vote or show up to poll.

LO 4.D.4: EXPLAIN THE FACTORS THAT

INFLUENCE VOTER CHOICES.

Factors that influence voter choices are their age,

education level, race, and income. The day to day actions of
a presidential candidate also influence the voters choice.
Whether a person is a democrat or republican influences
the voters choice. What usually helps a person decide on
who to vote on is the actions and statements made by a
presidential candidate when running for office. This is the
determining factor of the voters choice. The education,
race, age, and education level of the presidential candidate
are also things that affect the voters choice.

LO 4.D.5: COMPARE DIFFERENT MODELS OF

VOTING BEHAVIOR.

Voters want the president to be someone who makes things

happen. They want the president to be appealing and well
rounded but confident and strong. They dont want the
president to show weakness and mistrust. This is when the
education level, race, age, knowledge, and party of a
presidential candidate come into play. The way they present
themselves either makes them or breaks them.
