Career Objectives
After completing my Bachelor of Biomedical Science, I had decided that Respiratory Science
is the career I want to pursue. I firstly developed this passion during my degree, when I had
the pleasure of completing a 36 credit point work integrated learning unit in place of some
of my 3rd year elective units. I commenced work for 40 hours per week at The Prince
Charles Hospital for 10 weeks. I feel as if this experience has confirmed what I want to do
after graduating, and has made me more determined to try my hardest to achieve it. Seeing
improvement in the lung function of any patient was such a rewarding experience,
especially for the regular cystic fibrosis and lung transplant clinics. Over the 10 weeks in the
hospital I had become familiar with several of these patients, I miss being able to monitor
their progress and seeing their joyfulness upon achieving a great test result. I also know
how important it is to be energetic and encouraging during testing in order to receive
maximal results.
Upon starting, my goals for the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Physiology was to further my
knowledge and experience in the field of work which I know I want to be in. Completing this
degree has not only made me more employable but has also given me essential real life
work experience. Through this I have acquired vast experience in both pediatric lung
function testing at The Lady Cilento Childrens Hospital and sleep studies at the Princess
Alexandra Hospital. I have a current blue card and would be more than willing to attain any
relevant qualifications that would be needed
