Chemical Engineering
Job Functions:

Example:

Design/develop chemical
manufacturing processes
Solve problems involving
production/use of chemicals,
fuel, drugs, etc.
Troubleshoot problems with
manufacturing process.
Estimate production costs for
management.

Rubber, PVC, and bubble

gum were all created by U.S
born- Chemical Engineer,
Waldo Semon.

Chemical Engineering
Environment:
Generally laboratory setting;
mostly full time. May spend
time at the company they
are making the product for.

Chemical Engineering
Job Outlook:

Why I am Interested:

Employment of chemical
engineers is projected to
increase 4%. Demands for
chemical engineers depends on
the demand for products of
manufacturing industries.
Luckily, chemical engineers are
able to fill positions in different
specializations. For example,
nanotechnology this helps
sustain the demands.

I am most interested in
chemical engineering
because of the work
environment, and the
involvement of
science/math.

College
Co-op Programs:

My opinion:

Georgia Institute of Technology

has a various amount of co-op
programs. They provide different
types based off of your academic
performance and participation.
There is a special program for
students taking a language and
engineering; it allows them to
study in a country, and learn the
ways of their engineering
programs. This adds experience.

I would attend this college for

many reasons. One of those
reasons being the location of the
college (Atlanta, Georgia). I
would also attend because of
their excellent rankings as a
college for their Chemical
Engineering classes and
opportunities. (Ranked #9 in the
U.S.)
