Should classes divided by stereotypes?

Have you ever heard an English idiom, "Don't judge a book by its cover ? Do you think
just the cover could tell you all of details in the story? Can the cover show you the books
quality? Same goes to stereotypes, we shouldn't judge people by what they look like or who they
are. Classes shouldn't be divided by materials or anything else. According to this, everyone has
the same rights, stereotypes dont affect oneselfs character, and stereotypes can hurt people.
Every single person on this Earth deserves to have the same rights. The very first article
of Universal Declaration of Human Rights states All human beings are born to be free with
dignity and rights.(n.d.) This means what it means, no matter the race or gender, people all have
dignity and rights that has to be respected all equally. The second article says You should not
suffer discrimination, or be deprived of any of your rights, because of your race, colour, sex,
language, religion or political opinions. When it comes to respect for your basic rights, it should
not matter what country you were born in, what social class you belong to, or how rich or poor
you are. Everyone should enjoy all the rights in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. No
one should worry about oneself being different from others, just live on the rights that is given.
From the sixth article, everyone has to be judged the same by the laws. (n.d.) The seventh article
states that You have the right to be treated by the law in the same way as everyone else.(n.d.)
People have to be treated fairly by the law and the same way as everybody else. So everyone
must be treated equally throughout the population and the law should be laid on all people,
regardless of who they are or what they are.
Stereotypes don't at all affect a persons character. Stereotypes will hurt people, either
your feelings or your life. According to Los Angeles Times, Derek Batoyon, the author of this

particular article talks about his first year in UC San Diego. He wrote this article because he
wanted to show what teenagers feel or think about stereotypes. He wrote, My mother is white
and my father is a Spanish-Filipino. I have been labeled everything from a Filipino to a Mexican
to a Native-American. It makes me feel as if I don't have any real identity. I tell people I'm half
Filipino, half white. Full-blooded Filipinos look at how I am dressed. I do not dress the same
way so they call me white-washed.(1992) This part of the news stated about the response of
native-people to him. In this article also stated They have nothing to base their judgments on,
except for stereotypes. I dress like an average white person (which is a stereotype in itself) and
people think I act white. They see my brown skin and don't know what to think. (1992) This not
only mean that people from other races judge a race accordingly to stereotypes, but even the
people from the same race labels and judges themselves. As the European Journal of Social
Psychology, Stereotypes threat is very powerful (2011) and Self-concept be harmed by
stereotypes. (2011) According to BCC news UK, teenagers are having a hard time getting jobs,
all due to the stereotypes that have been put on them. (n.d) Negative views on stereotypes can
and will ultimately lessen opportunities for teenagers of foreign races or just mere difference of a
person to be able to get a job that they are qualified for or even to get a job. UK BCC news also
said that Negative stereotypes affect their chance to getting jobs.(n.d.) In TIME magazine from
the article Why Insults HurtAnd Why They Shouldnt, Withdrawing from the social hierarchy
game, I should add, can also beneficially transform our relationships. (Irvine, W. B., 2013).
Pulling yourself out of a society where stereotypes are very prominent can be very eye opening.
When people can do this, our relationships between people from different races can change. So
dont let stereotypes destroy who you are and you shouldnt let stereotypes be one of the factors
that cut your opportunities in life. More importantly stereotypes can hurt self-esteem of people. A
person should be proud of who they are and embrace it, not be ashamed of it.

Stereotypes, no matter if a person is rich or poor, of different colour, or of different race,
these factors shouldnt even be a part of how people determine a quality of a person. Weve seen
many examples out there where people are being looked down on or oppressed by stereotypes,
but they didnt let stereotypes take them down, instead they use that to motivate them.
Such as Michael Jacksons, as everyone knows that Americans insult coloured people, but
Michael Jackson became one of the most popular singer in the world. Thats shown us that
stereotypes don't affect your quality or being an obstacle, keeping you away from who you are.
Another idea by Young Musicians in World History book (Earls, I., 2002) said Beethoven
became unable to hear, but he can be a great musician in the world with Symphony 9. Even he
became deaf becoming a disabled people and most of people thinks disabled people don't have a
capability or cannot do anything by themselves. But there are many disabled people who is
successful and famous. Everyone can be anything that they want to be, even they have been
insulted by others.
Stereotypes shouldn't be the factors to limit and control peoples opportunities and dont
insult others just because they are different from us. Because everyone has the same rights and
the law didnt say that who is better than or who has the more rights than the others. No one
should be insulted because of who they are. Dont let situations that you have been, or let your
good or bad experiences be the frame of reference to judge anyone. We can be similar or
different in features, but that doesnt mean theyre worthless or worth more. So don't judge other
people from your eyes , because that can completely eliminate someones chance of proving
themselves being worth anything at all.
