Communication Scholarships
The Leffingwell Scholarship

Named in honor of long time faculty member, Dr. Robert

Leffingwell who passed away in February, 2000, this scholarship will be awarded to two deserving students for the 2008
- 2009 academic year. The amount of each award is $500.00,
and the funds may be used for tuition/fees, completion of
a communication - related internship, and/or participation
in a conference or seminar. Applicants must be communication majors who have completed at least 64 credit hours
with a minimum, overall Q.P.A. of 3.0, and a 3.25 in the
major. Applicants must submit a packet that includes a letter of application, three (3) letters of recommendation, and
a resume and/or portfolio of materials related to communication (activities, accomplishments, work samples ect.)
Preferences will be given to students who course work,
interests, and activities parallel those of Dr. Leffingwell,
namely: broadcasting, film, and media studies.

Communication Scholarship

An award made available through the generosity of S.R.U.

alumnus, Dr. David Descutner, this scholarship will be
awarded in the amount of $1,250.00 for the 2008 - 2009
academic year. It is renweable, provided that the recipient
maintains the minimum Q.P.A., and active involvement
within the department. Funds may be applied to tuition/
fees , books, and/or participation in a communication - related conference or seminar. Applicants must be communication majors with a minimum, overall Q.P.A. of 3.0, and
participation in department related co-curricular activities (The Rocket, radio or television stations, honoraries
ect.) Applicants must submit a packet that includes a letter
of application, three (3) letters of recommendation, and a
resume and/or portfolio of materials related to communication (activities, accomplishments, work samples ect.)
Preference will be given to minority/intercultural students.
