Mukashi mukashi, aru tokoro ni, chiisana onna no ko ga imashita.
Once upon a time, there lived a little girl.

Otousan mo okaasan mo shinde shimatte, onna no ko no motte

Since both her father and mother just passed away, what
she had were only the clothes she was wearing and a slice of
bread a kind stranger gave her.

However, she had only a slice of bread.

Kono pan o agete shimattara, onna no ko no taberu mono ga

nakunatte shimaimasu.
She knew that if she gave it to the man, she wouldnt have
anything else to eat herself.

Demo onna no ko wa, motte ita pan o zenbu agete iimashita.
But she kindly offered this bread to the man and said.

Kami-sama no o megumi ga, arimasu you ni
God bless you.


Soshite saki e aruite iku to, hitori no kodomo ga yatte kite
nakinagara iimashita.
And when she went further, a crying child came up to her
and said.

Samui, a tama ga samui you. Nee, nanika kaburu mono o chudai
Cold! My head is cold! Please give me something to put
on my head.

Sokode onna no ko wa,ji bun no boushi o agete iimashita.
Then the girl handed her hat to the child and said.


Kami-sama no o megumi ga, arimasu you ni
God bless you.


Mata shibaraku iku to, kondo wa uwa gi ga nakute kogoete iru
kodomo ni aimashita.
As she kept on going, there was a child who was shivering
without any coat on.

Onna no ko waji bun no uwa gi o nugu to, sono kodomo ni agete

iimashita.
While taking off her coat and giving it to the child, the girl
said,

Kami-sama no o megumi ga, arimasu you ni
God bless you.


Mata saki e aruite ikuto betsu no ko ga sukaato o hoshi garunode,
sukaato o agete iimashita.
As she went a lot further, she gave her skirt to another
little girl who begged her for it and said,

Kami-sama no o megumi ga, arimasu you ni
God bless you.

Toutou onna no ko wa, mori ni yattekimashita.
Finally, she arrived in the forest.

Atari wa mou, sukkari kuraku natte imasu
It had already got dark out there.

Soko e mata hitori no kodomo ga yatte kite, shita gi o hoshi

garimashita
There was another child approached her and begged for
her underwear.

Shita gi o ageru to, onna no ko wa wada ka ni natte shimaimasu.
If she had given her underwear, she would be naked.

Onna no ko wa, sukoshi mayoimashitaga,
For that reason, she hesitated for a moment but she
thought to herself,

(Kurai yorudakara, dare ni mo mie ya shinai wa)
Its so dark that nobody can see me naked.


Onna no ko wa kou kangaete shita gi o nugu to, toutou kore mo
agete iimashita.
Then she ended up taking off her underwear and giving it
to the child and said,

Kami-sama no o megumi ga, arimasu you ni
God bless you.


Koushite onna no ko ga nani hitotsu mi ni tsukezu ni tatte iru to,
totsuzen sora kara hoshi ga ochite kimashita.
The standing girl, wearing nothing on, found some stars
floating down from the sky.

Soshite sono hoshi wa, pikapika hikaru kinka ni natta nodesu.
Later, those stars turned into sparkling gold coins.

Ki ga tsuku to wada kadatta hazu no on'na no ko wa, itsu no ma ni

ka rippana fuku o kite imashita.
She must have naked, but she actually found herself in
fancy clothes.

Aa , kami-sa ma arigatou'

Onna no ko wa kinka o hiroi atsumeru to, sono o kane de isshou
shiawase ni kura shita to iu kotodesu
She lived happily ever after with the coins she picked up.
