YEAR 9 CAMP TO SLIPPER ISLAND 2015

Monday 23th November to Friday 27th November 2015

This the final information letter for the Year 9 Slipper Island camp.
General Information
Students need a packed lunch for Monday on the boats.
All students have been organised into cooking groups and have organised their
menu for the week. It is students responsibility to finalised when they will
complete their shopping or decide who will bring which ingredients.
On camp, students are provided with gas burners to cook on so they do not need
to bring their own but they can if they choose to. All groups need to bring their
own pots, pans, cutlery and washing up equipment.
Students have organised their own sleeping groups and have organised who is
bringing the tent for the group. All students need to supply their own bedding.
Facilities on camp are two flush toilets and two hot showers per gender group.
Due to water restrictions showers are to be kept to a minimum.
Transportation to Slipper Island
Attached with this letter is the transportation lists for all students.
Students that are leaving from Whitianga will need to be at Whitianga Marina,
Blacksmith Lane by Salt Restaurant and Bar at 8.00 am. We are travelling on
Celebre and Double Vision and Tipple Vision.
Students transporting themselves to Tairua by private transport will need to be at
the wharf at the base of Paku Hill Monday 23th November at times give on next
sheet.
Directions are, drive past dive shop and follow inner harbour around to the wharf
(approx. 500m from dive shop). Note: If weather conditions are not suitable
in Tairua I will contact these students on Sunday night and they will be
required to leave from Whitianga at 8.30am.
Return Time
The first two groups should arrive back in Whitianga at approximately 2.00pm. I
will contact the school office on Friday to confirm these times so parents can call
the office to find exact time of arrival. Students will be returned to the Whitianga
Marina.
Students returning to Tairua Mr Johnston will let you use his cell phone to
contact home to come and get you. Quite a few Tairua parents are going so you

may be able to arrange transport home. The Whenuakite students could probably
do the same.
Emergency Contact
You can contact John Wright on 021 383 865 or Chris Johnston 021 2100260.
