Television Proposal
In the semester long project we want to explore the history and modern day uses of
television. The television is very popular technology throughout the United States, we want to
learn the history behind this, how it affects our day to day lives, and the global impacts of
television. We want to start by researching the history and technology of the television. The
invention and improvements to the television represents significant technological advancements
in history. Currently we use the television for entertainment and news, has the it always been this
way? We are also only aware of the television in the United States, globally does the television
have the same uses, history, and cultural impact. To present this information to the class we plan
to use a variety of modes of explanation to teach our peers and instructor about our research
topics, these include a timeline, powerpoint, music, video clips, and an oral presentation.
The project will be presented in PowerPoint which will include visuals and other aids to
demonstrate the effect of T.V. through the years. The phenomenon of T.V. is ever evolving and
influencing people in ways they some might not even realize. In order to research and gain
insight we will first start with our parents and figure out what their first experiences with
television were. Then, from there, it becomes pretty simple. In terms of consumer television our

generation stands out as the most influential of them all. With the invention of the ever popular
netflix and other streaming websites television can be enjoyed in more ways than many people
believed possible. From there we will pull research and statistics related to television and
incorporate them in the form of visuals aids and through our oral presentation.
Televisions are just one of the technological advancements that have been made over the
past century. It is important to understand why and how these advancements have been made
because using the television has become an everyday occurrence in most American households.
Televisions have made such an impact on our everyday lives that we should know how they can
change the way how we live in the future.
In this project each of the team members have specific roles. It is Natalie's job to research
the topics, writing the paper will be John and Shreyas responsibility, and the putting together the
presentation will be Claire's job.
To accomplish this project in a timely manner, we plan to set an efficient deadline for
ourselves to finish the different parts of this project. The different aspects that we need to
complete are the research, paper, and presentation. We are setting ourselves two weeks to
research and three weeks each for the paper and presentation. Therefore, we plan to have most of
our research done by the eighteenth of October. We will then work on our paper which should
take us around three weeks to complete. This means that it should be completed by November
eighth. In order to finish the presentation before it is due, we will have it ready by December
twenty-ninth.
