Dear Administrator and Supervising Teacher,

My name is Bailey Marcotte, I am originally from Manhattan, Kansas, and Graduated

form Riley County High School. I am seeking a Bachelor of Science in Education with a
minor in Spanish. I chose Elementary Education because I enjoy working with young
students and I want to have a positive impact on their lives and inspire them to reach
their goals.
When I started thinking about my career path, I knew I wanted to work with children.
Each summer I had numerous babysitting jobs and thats what sparked my interest for
working with children. For three years in college, I worked as a Youth Education
Services Tutor through Pittsburg State University. For my job as a YES tutor, I worked at
Frank Layden Elementary School, in Frontenac, KS. Through this job I gained
experience working in two different Kindergarten classes, a first grade reading class,
and a second grade classroom. This job gave me valuable experience working with a
diverse group of children, and students with different exceptionalities. During my
clinical experiences, I taught classes in a Title One reading and math classroom, a
fourth grade classroom, a first grade reading seminar, and a fourth grade reading
seminar. I have also volunteered and observed in an elementary functional resource
classroom. Outside of a school setting, I worked as a childrens day camp counselor
and was a Big Brothers/ Big Sisters mentor. I was the vice president of the Big
Brothers/ Big Sisters student organization at Pittsburg State and helped with creating
ideas to enhance childrens involvement in the community.
With my Spanish minor, I studied abroad in Spain during the summer of 2014. During
this experience I stayed with a Spanish host family and attended class at the
University of Alicante. Through studying abroad it expanded my cultural awareness
and allowed me to practice my conversational Spanish.
Professional goals I have include: attending conferences and workshops to learn new
techniques, In the fall of 2016, I will be taking classes to acquire my Masters Degree
in Special Education. Last summer I started taking graduate classes to obtain my
English Speakers of Other Languages endorsement and will be continuing to finish
that.
I believe that every student can learn, and as educators we need to support and
encourage all of our students. As educators, we should love and respect all students,
have high expectations for students, and teach students to their highest potentials.
We should be dedicated to the teaching profession and have a passion for this career
in education.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your classroom. I look forward to meeting
you and the students.
Sincerely,

Bailey Marcotte
