Request for One Book, One Campus recommendation

This is a response to your request to recommend three books for all first year university students
to read. I suggest to read Florida (America the beautiful), Make it stick: The science of
successful learning and Write it down, make it happen: Knowing what you want and getting it.
While choosing the first book, I considered Florida Gulf Coast Universitys geological location.
Students will spend years in Florida while attending FGCU, so it is important to get to know
their surroundings. The second book helps students to become successful learners. Finally, I
chose a book that would help students achieve their dreams and to provide them guidance no
matter where they end up in life. After researching the University of Oklahomas One Book One
Campus website, I found their recommended book, titled Our Kids, which discusses how kids
grow up today determines their adult life.

All three books remind the reader that life is beautiful and that people should live it to the fullest
and not be afraid to reach for the sky. According to Florida Gulf Coast Universitys mission
principles, professors and the staff are dedicated to help students to reach their full potential and
prepare them to gain employment and be productive citizens of this society. It is the universitys
best interest to not only educate students but to help them become successful in life as well.
I am confident that you will pick books that would provide valuable life lessons and help
students grow. I am anxiously anticipating a positive response from you as I realize that One
Book, One Campus is changing lives one book at a time.
