RELECTION ON SELF-AWARENESS ACTIVITY (September 29, 2015)

1. Write a letter to your future self, 10 years from now.

2. Write a letter to your 10-year old self.

A letter to my future self,

I like to imagine myself ten years from now as a competitive teacher. First, I would
like to dream of becoming a pre-school teacher. My recent experience of demo
teaching in U.P.I.S under grade 3 made me realize that I am really fond of kids. Id like
to be a part of their developing their critical thinking skills. And while helping them in
their developments, I get to enjoy how they are as a child. Free-spirited without any
worries of their situation. I got really inspired by my subject of EDCO 101 and EDR 110,
the Teaching of Reading and Literature. Of course, after I gained experience from early
grade teaching within 3 to 4 years, I will still push through in becoming a public high
school teacher. As they say that you are not a full-pledged teacher if you havent tried
to teach in a public school. I would also want to be part of our nations pride. Teachers
build a better society by creating generations of creative, critical thinkers. I like to
experience the real life of a teacher in a public school setting. And of course, I also
would like to avail of the benefits of being a government employee.

While fulfilling my dream of becoming an educator, I will still be a great mother and a
wife that I could be. Thats why Im taking up CPE because someday, Id like to give my
children a better future. I would also still dream of becoming a businesswoman. Our
medicine merchandise is growing and I like this to grow even bigger. I also dream of
having a restaurant or garden business.

I hope and look forward to achieving these goals ten years from now. Ill keep going
and never give up!

A letter to myself after 10 years,

How time flies really fast! Now, Im already the best teacher that I wanted to be. The
teacher that delivers excellence with her lesson plans each day. I tried how it is to be in
the pre-school setting. And I really love working with kids. They made me whole as a
teacher and I feel younger than my age.

I am now teaching in a public school as a first year high school adviser. It is really
fulfilling how I see the students lives get better and their performances improved each
day. I also get to do my job as the best mother that I wanted to be.
Like what I dreamed 10 years before, our medicine merchandise got even bigger
today. We have our own drugstore and extended with three branches here in Quezon
City. My focus now is for my children to finish schooling and start their own endeavours
as well. I now look forward for my children achieving their dreams.

RELECTION ON SELF AWARENESS

How self-aware am I? Going back from my experiences after I graduated from

college and getting a job in a corporate world, it was only after 12 years that I realized
what I wanted to become. I should say that I grew up full of self-worth as I proved
myself being a competitive bank employee. Working for BDO and HSBC for a total of
ten years was really a big achievement. I may not be achiever in math subject but I
have the skill of critical thinking that I used in working as an account executive in HSBC
for almost 5 years. But as years passed by, I realized that it is not my passion to
become a bank employee. Somehow I felt that I can use my skills in a more purposeful
job. As I long to do my motherhood duty while working eight hours a day, I was
enlightened that just like being a mother, I also want to become a good teacher. So only
after thirteen years that I realized what I want to do in life as I grow older. Motivated by
my experiences, I entered schooling again in U.P taking up Certificate in Professional
Education.

How self-aware am I as a mother? This is really a process of refinement. I have

been through a needle-hole as I face the challenge of motherhood. Rearing two
daughters, a toddler and early grader, really requires a lot of patience. But now, I have
overcome bad attitudes and one of those is being impatient. Unlike before when I only
have one child yet and I work graveyard shift, I only have little amount of patience for
my eldest whenever she had tantrums. After almost a year of contemplating whether Ill
be a working mom or just a fulltime stay home mother, a chose the latter and be a
hands-on-mom. I dont want to let their childhood pass by without me on their side. I
could never turn back the time where they needed me the most. I can always go back
to being a career woman when they grow old. And It is only I who can be the nurturer to
my children. And motherhood is a divine calling from God. It is my responsibility to
nourish my family who are entrusted to me by God.

Developing Self-Awareness

How Did I come up to develop my self-awareness?

For the past 12 years of being a career woman, being single to a married
woman, I became more aware of my strengths and weaknesses. Among my
weaknesses is the physical aspect of having anxiety attack when I get stressed. This
prevents me from being active in my activities whether at home, church or school.
Another weakness I have is I tend to blame my husband whenever we have arguments.
I also punish my eldest child when I lose patience with her. Among my strengths is Im
good at handling people. I am a team player and I can motivate my team even under
pressure. Im also an understanding person. I get to know the reason first before
judging others. I am also a conscientious person. I also am a good leader.

How about in social relationship? I am now aware that Im good at socializing

with others. I can be with anyone and work with everyone.

How about in romantic relationship? I have improved in nagging my husband. I

try to consider first his feelings or situation before insisting with what I want.

How about in work? I fully realize that what my passion is and that is to become
an educator someday. I also give consideration to try working online since I am now a
stay-home-mom. I still believe that husbands and wives should be equal partner in
providing for their children. Whether it is with physiological needs or emotional aspects.

When it comes to spiritual, no questions asked! I do believe in God the Eternal

Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. That Jesus Christ is the
Savior of the world and that He lives! That I belong to the true church of Jesus Christ,
which is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
