ABSTRACT
Hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) is a renal failure in patients with chronic liver disease. Typical sign of hepatorenal syndrome is renal
vasoconstriction caused by still unclear mechanisms. Some trigger factors can influence the onset of HRS. The recommended therapy for HRS
is liver transplantation. Medical therapy prior to liver transplantation can use a choice of recommended multiple regimens. Hamzah Pratama.

DEFINISI
Sindrom hepatorenal (hepatorenal syndrome/
HRS) merupakan komplikasi terjadinya gagal
ginjal pada pasien penyakit hati kronik,
kadang-kadang berupa hepatitis fulminan
dengan hipertensi portal dan ascites.1
SEJARAH
Pada abad ke-19, beberapa ahli membuat
deskripsi gangguan fungsi ginjal pada pasien
penyakit hati. Pada saat itu dideskripsikan
sebagai oliguria pada pasien penyakit hati
kronis tanpa proteinuria dan dihubungkan
dengan gangguan ginjal pada sirkulasi
sistemik.2 Mulai tahun 1967, ditemukan
bahwa tanda khas HRS berupa vasokonstriksi
ginjal berat.2
