Performance Summary
Tonights demographic for this performance included a lot of families and elderly folks. Many families and
friends came out to support opening night of the opera and they were definitely along for the journey. The company
received a lot of reactions in places they might not have expected. Coming from directors who have heard these
jokes and phrases for over three months we know what to expect, but for people who had no idea what this journey
was going to entail they were on board this train. Many of the principal characters received applause and emotions
from the audience. The number that stole everyones hearts away was The Vilja Song with Hannas solo and the
Folk Dancers adding another element to the already moving piece. The audience were also laughing in their pants
about Who Can Tell What the Hell Women Are? number. People were laughing and cheering; totally not
expecting the reactions they were receiving. By the time we got to finale Act 2 they were ready for more within the
relationship of Hannah and Danilo. When we got to their duet in Act 3, the audience was already captivated by all
the loose ends being tied up in their relationship. Baron Zetas last line in the entire operetta wasnt heard or no one
reacted as I thought they would; as he reads what is on the fan I am a respectful wife, which is the lie and cause of
drama of the entire performance. Theres still two more chances for people to react and understand that line.
