Purpose:
As you know, we are merging our newly implemented, cutting-edge ORION
technology into our existing Dispatch Planning System. Through this merger
of technology, our overall planning ability will be greatly improved. This
merger, due to be implemented in early 2016, will bring two separate
responsibilities into one large responsibility. Currently there are two part-time
supervisors covering these areas, one in our Dispatch Planning System and
the other in our ORION system.

Current Problem:
Because of this merger, the current job of dispatch supervisor will nearly
double in its tasks and responsibilities. As it stands now, the Dispatch
supervisor and ORION supervisor will have to come in at nearly the same
time and work side by side when planning the day's dispatch in order to

complete the variety of tasks in under five and a half hours each day, with
the ORION supervisor having very little responsibility after the merger. Each
part-time supervisor makes nearly $30,000 each year in addition to
numerous benefits such as health-care, stock options, school
reimbursements and 3 weeks of paid vacation, costing thousands of
additional dollars, per employee.

Proposed Solution:
Based on my experience in dispatch supervision, and my Quality
Performance Review score during that time, I propose that I be allowed to
take over all responsibilities related to dispatch supervision and data
management. If I am allowed to increase my hours and become a full-time
Dispatch Supervisor for Crystal City, and compensated at the average
Dispatch Supervisor salary of $60,00, I would not only save the company
money by eliminating a no-longer relevant position in ORION, but I would
bring my skill set back into the dispatch and greatly reduce the miles and
paid days of our 25 drivers, saving countless thousands of dollars each year.

Conclusion:
By allowing me to take responsibility of the dispatch and data during and
after this exciting new merger of technologies, we will eliminate a no longer
relevant position, reducing cost. In addition we will bring my skill set and
experience back into Crystal City's dispatch, leading to reduction in our daily

cost of operation. A complete and analytically composed dispatch is the most

crucial element of each operation at United Parcel Service and by allowing
me to become a full-time Dispatch Supervisor, we will see exemplary results
each and every day.

My strategic plan was to focus on how placing me in a full-time Dispatch

Supervisor position during our technological job merger would save UPS
money by eliminating a position and reducing costs of operation through my
experience and analytical planning. I tried to focus on what I could bring to
the table through my experience at dispatching and the results we achieved
as a center during that time.
