"Reduce Cafeteria Waste Project

Project description. In the project "Reduce Cafeteria Waste" the students of the 6V form will

certain items given in too large a portion? What waste reduction and waste diversion practices
are already in place?
The answers to these questions will guide the development of a plan for waste reduction and cost
savings.

students to eat their food and simple reminders like take only one napkin.

Audience. Elementary and middle school students, parents.
Project Template
1. Project Title: "Reduce Cafeteria Waste"
2. Project idea: All the elementary school pupils and especially those from poor
and/or large families studying at gymnasium are provided with free food at the lyceum. Students
that are not included in the list of those who can eat for free can still eat in the canteen, but have
to pay for food. Also they are allowed to bring their lunches from home. In spite of the fact that
the products offered by canteen are of high cost, and, n general, the student think of the food
offered by the school canteen as good or acceptable, the canteen produces a lot of waste, in the
form of metal, plastic, paper and even food. Besides, classrooms often generate a lot of waste,
especially in the form of paper. If it's not reused or recycled, this waste leads to pollution.
So students play the role of community activists to solve the problem of waste in the lyceum.
3. Driving Question: How can we convince the students to waste less?
4. Content skills and standards: Civics positive attitude toward environment; Literacy writing
persuasive essays; Vocabulary - waste, management, systems, rubbish, green, plastic, environment, global
warming, composting, food scraps, data, propose, suggest, encourage; IT making videos, PPT
presentations.
5. Collaborative Final Product: videos, posters, PPT presentation, management system design
6. Local & Global Audience: elementary and middle students, parents, teachers, school
administration.

7. Goals:

1) to raise the awareness of the waste we generate.

2) to design a system that will help reduce our schools waste.
