The Pirates Winning Path is Blocked by a Familiar Foe

Over the past couple seasons the Pittsburgh Pirates have morphed into a contending team. Led by
their All Star Centerfielder Andrew McCutchen and tremendous pitching staff they have
forgotten their losing ways. With a record of 80-54, the Pirates are a really talented team but are
behind their Division leader the St Louis Cardinals. The Pirates are currently first in the wild
card race and will most likely play a single game elimination series with the Chicago cubs. The
Wild card race is two teams ranked 4th and 5th from the American league and two other from the
National pushing for a playoff berth.
The Pittsburgh Pirates starting Catcher Francisco Cervelli believes, that they can make it deep in
the playoffs, he stated, This year, everybody feels it Its win, win, win, win. Thats what Ive
got in mind. In order to achieve this, they will most likely have to face their division rival the
St. Louis Cardinal. The Cardinals were victorious against the Pirates two seasons ago and have
been the division leader for the last couple of years. Neal Huntington, the Pirates General
Manager, said But were our biggest opponent, the only team that is holding them back is
themselves.
The Pirates have a great chance of winning the world series. They must continue to work as a
team and play each game with determination to bring another championship to the organization.
The offense must strive and the pitching staff has to be solid. There will be obstacles and
consequences faced but the Pirates have the talent to overcome them.
