This month all of our math students spent a

class period learning about and completing
computer programing. This was a perfect
example of how what we are learning in the
classroom is used in the world outside of our
classroom. We just completed a unit on
functions and this was a great example of
how math functions are used in our everyday
life. Ask your child what an input and
output is and how that is used to code a
computer game. The following is a video
that we watch about coding.

We have just completed our winter MAP
testing. We have found that there is a direct
correlation between MAP scores and EOG
performance. South Charlotte students are
fortunate to have access to a computer
program called Compass Learning. This
program uses your childs MAP results to
formulate an individualized training program
for your child. We have found that working
on Compass Learning directly impacts your
childs MAP/EOG scores. Therefore, we
recommend that your child works for 15
minutes a day on this program (even over
the break). Your childs sign on information
is:
User id: First Name Initial Capitalized Last
name (with first initial capitalized) and last 4
numbers of student id
Password: YYMMDD (of birthday)
School: CMSD
