PEMBUATAN SENYAWA POLIOL DARI MINYAK GORENG

SEBAGAI BAHAN BAKU POLIURETAN

DI PUSAT PENELITIAN KELAPA SAWIT MEDAN

ABSTRAK

Poliol dari minyak goreng telah dibuat melalui reaksi epoksidasi minyak goreng
dilanjutkan dengan reaksi hidrolisis. Kemudian hasil karakterisasi poliol dari
minyak goreng dianalisis melalui spektrofotometer FT-IR. Pembentukan poliol ini
didukung oleh hasil penentuan bilangan iodin minyak goreng dibandingkan
dengan bilangan iodin poliol dari minyak goreng yang mengalami penurunan
harga dari 6,36 menjadi 1,56 sedangkan bilangan hidroksi mengalami kenaikan
dari 56,06 menjadi 75,55.
Selanjutnya pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan sintesis poliuretan
menggunakan toluene diisosianat direaksikan dengan poliol dari minyak goreng.
Sintesis poliuretan dilakukan pada perbandingan TDI : poliol (2 : 1). Poliuretan
yang diperoleh diidentifikasi dengan spektroskopi FT-IR. Spektrum poliuretan
yang dihasilkan memberikan spektrum yang sesuai dan menunjukkan telah
terbentuknya gugus uretan dari poliuretan.

PRODUCTION OF POLYOL COMPOUND FROM COOKING OIL

AS POLYURETHANE BASIC MATERIAL
AT PUSAT PENELITIAN KELAPA SAWIT MEDAN

ABSTRACT

Polyol from cooking oil has been made through epoksidation reaction of
cooking oil continued by hydrolysis reaction. Then, the result of polyol
characterization from cooking oil was analyzed by using spectrophotometer FTIR. This polyol production was supported by the result of determination iodine
number of cooking oil compared to the determination iodine number of cooking
oil polyol which getting cost reduction from 6,36 to 1,56. Whereas hydroxyl
number was marking up cost from 56,06 to 75,66.
Furthermore, through this research it has been made polyurethane
synthesis by using toluene diisocyanate reacted by polyol of cooking oil.
Polyurethane synthesis was made in ratio between TDI : Polyol (2 : 1).
Polyurethane acquired was identificated through spectroscopy FT-IR. The
polyurethane spectrum resultant gave the appropriate spectrum and showing
urethane cluster formed from polyurethane.
