Reflective

Statement 2013-214 School Year

I believe that my lectures improved from the previous year, and that students are starting to
warm up to me a bit. I also feel that Im becoming more used to distance education, however
this will always be something I will have to improve on. My teaching goals for this year
include improving my student evaluations, streamlining my lectures, and getting a few
teaching evaluations. This year I hope to fine-tune the dyslipidemia lab as it corresponds
with my lipid lecture.

I believe my areas of strength last year were the organization of my lectures as well as the
way I can explain material to make it easier for students to understand. I think I can
improve on my expectations of what pharmacy students should be learning, and not focus
on all of the material but what is important for clinical practice.

Goals:
Create an innovative elective
o Measurable Objective: Submit a new elective for course review to
curriculum committee by winter 2014 - HIV Summer Camp & Lifestyle
Modifications (Spring)
Create an interactive lecture for advanced communications
o Measurable Objective: Creative an new lecture for Advanced
communications - constructive criticism using distance active learning.
Peer review of my teaching
o Measurable Objective: 1-2 peer reviews a year of teaching

End of 2013-2014 Reflective Statement

My teaching has improved and this year has gone more smoothly than previous years. I am
becoming more comfortable with distance education and that I'm enjoying the material that
I am assigned to teach more. I feel my current lecture load is appropriate. I really enjoyed
the elective that Dr. Sirmans and I coordinated together as well. I am also enjoying my
rotation students, and this past year I was able to work with a very enthusiastic group. As
for the HIV online elective, I did not get a chance to start that project as I overestimated the
time it would take to do two electives this year. However, I still plan to make an HIV online
elective in the future. I had 3 teaching evaluations completed for me Fall 2014 with above
average results. One of my teaching evaluations was done in the spring by Dr. Lewis and
was only verbal feedback only.

Mentors Comment on Teaching
Dr. Jeffery Evans

I had the chance to see her teaching in action this year and hear the feedback that she
received from the students from her. She seems to be developing more confidence in her
teaching and it shows in a reflection of how the students are viewing her. Her rotation
seems to be going better and I am happy that she was allowed to move away from a

dispensing role that she had some how gotten into. She has developed one new elective and
she is in the process of developing a second elective, HIV camp that seems to be really
innovative and awesome. I look forward to her next year and seeing how she continues to
grow as a teacher. I hope the Department and School will continue to provide faculty
development to ensure her continued success.
