Dear Mrs. Brightman, want to apologize to you and the board for the fiasco thet the Teachers Association tried to create at your meeting last week. Asa long time WCTA member [ am embarrassed at the behavior and tactics of our leadership. Iwas asked fo participate in the “grade in” that was staged on Tuesday night. In the past I have had many disagreements with decisions made by the board, but I do not think that disrupting your work is the way to share our concerns, I feel the stress of increasing pressure on teachers. Ihope that we ‘can find some kind of relief for all of us. Tdon’t think disrespecting the board and its work is the right way todoit now understand that our leaders are planning another demonstration at a future board meeting. They are ‘working with a board member Karen Harshman ~ to have some kind of demonstration in January to again try to embarrass the board members. I hope that you know that these actions of a few do not reflect the views of ALL teachers. Ido not think they ate the views of the majority of teachers. I hope that you ‘ill not hold their immature actions against all of us as teachers. As someone who has been involved in the WCTA leadership, this is not how I think we should work with the board. For obvious reasons, [will not sign my name to this letter. Under the current leadership, the association does not tolerate dissent. And they will punish those who don’t tow the association line, Also, Karen Harshman works with the association leadership regularly. I know this because of my long time involvement with WCTA. [know Karen Harshman, And if she knew that I was not supporting her plan to ‘embarrass the board, it would put my job in jeopardy. I value my job. Ineed my job. Tam not a pawn in Karen Harshman’s game. Tim sorry to have to share this with you anonymously, but with Karen Harshman on the board and the ‘current association leadership, I feel that Thave no other choice. hope you know that there are many other teachers who feel the way that Ido, but are also afraid of retaliation, I think most of us feel this way. Thope you won’t hold the actions of a few against all of us, A Frightened WCTA Member Ce: Clayton Wilcox, Neil Becker, Andrew Serafini
