Montana taxpayers can now donate up to $150

to innovative educational public school programs and
receive a one-for-one tax credit on their annual return.
Senate Bill 410 established the program and caps
the public school tax credit at $3 million. The Montana
Department of Revenue (DOR) must preapprove tax
credits to make sure that the cap has not been reached.
On Jan. 1, DOR launched a website allowing taxpayers
to preapprove the tax credit for their donation and to
make the donation payment online. Or, the taxpayer
may print a donation pledge and mail a check to the
Office of Public Instruction.
The website can be found at: https://svc.mt.gov/
dor/educationdonations/

OPI encourages all school districts to communicate
this exciting program to parents and education support
groups throughout the state as anyone can make a
donation to help public schools and receive a tax credit
from the state when filing their state tax return.
Taxpayers can donate any amount they wish, but
the tax credit they receive is capped at $150. Taxpayers
can choose to donate directly to either the high school or
elementary school district in the seven-largest districts
in the state, but donations outside of these areas will
go to one of 11 regions and will be divided among all
of the schools in that region. Funds donated will be
distributed to school districts quarterly and will go into
the school flexibility fund. The funds can be used for
new technology or new instructional programs.

A day after he was caught, it came out that Mexican drug lord
El Chapo actually sat down for an interview with Sean Penn
while he was on the run. In the interview, El Chapo described
himself as a person whos not looking for problems in any
way. You know, except for that whole Mexican drug lord
thing. Im just a humble drug lord! I chop up my enemies
one leg at a time, just like anybody else. ~ Jimmy Fallon
Mexican drug lord El Chapo was captured by authorities
after meeting with Sean Penn. As a result, Bill Cosby just
canceled his lunch with Sean Penn. ~ Conan OBrien
El Chapo is back in the same prison he escaped from six
months ago but they revoked his tunnel privileges this time. The
plan is theyre hoping to extradite him to the United States so
he can be tried by a jury of his customers. That is, if he doesnt
escape again. Hes very good at getting away. Hes really the
closest thing Mexico has to a leprechaun. ~ Jimmy Kimmel
The truth is that the odds of you winning the Powerball are 290 million
to 1. That means are you about as likely to win the Powerball as you
are to ever hear the words President Jeb Bush. ~ James Corden

Celebrating the Rubber Ducky

Start running the bath, its Rubber Ducky Day!

Today, January 13th, is National Rubber Ducky Day
it says so on the BS Central desk calendar!
Rubber ducks have been around since the rise of
the rubber industry in the late 1800s, but no one knows
their exact origin. During World Wars I and II, rubber
was a valuable commodity which was rationed and by
the 1940s with the advent of plastic, the rubber ducky
began being produced in vinyl and plastic.
The earliest patent for a rubber duck toy was
patented in 1928 by Landon Smart Lawrence. His
design was for a bath toy which was weighted and when
tipped would return to its upright position. The sketch
included with the patent was that of a duck.

One of the most famous rubber duckies is friend
of Sesame Street character, Ernie. In 1970, Jim Henson
performed the song Rubber Ducky as Ernie on Sesame
Street, and the rubber duck bath toy has been an iconic
American symbol ever since.

Did you know that in January of 1992, a shipment
of 29,000 rubber duckies fell off a cargo ship in the
Pacific Ocean? By 2007, the Friendly Floatees had
traveled 17,000 miles around the world on the ocean
currents. Some are still afloat today! Over the years,
people reported sightings in Indonesia, Australia,
South America, the Bering Straight, the Arctic, and
(eventually) the Atlantic Ocean.
Sales of the iconic yellow rubber ducky soared
in Britain in 2001. Why? A British Tabloid, The Sun,
reported Queen Elizabeth II had a rubber duck in her
bathroom that wore an inflatable crown.
The rubber ducky became a Toy Hall of Fame
inductee in 2013. Founded in 1998, the Hall of Fame
has only inducted 52 other toys.

Tomorrow is National Dress Up Your Pet Day.
