Section Il : Animal, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences 215 Studies on the effect of some new neem and B.T based formulations like nimbicidine, Achook, Suneem, RD-9 Repline, Biolep and Dipel against Okra fruit and shoot borer Earias vittella (Fabricius) was carried out. The results indicated that nimbicidine and Biolep (1.0%) each were more effective in controlling the fruit and shoot borer, E. vittella and gave higher yields of Okra fruit. 288, Comparative Acute Toxicity of Arsenic Among Common Carp (Cyprinus Carpio L,), Mrigal (Cirrhinus Mrigala H.) and Rohu (Labeo Rohita H.) Parimal Sardar*, S. Datta, G. H. Pailan and B. K. Mahapatra Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre, 32 GN Block, Sector-V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata-700 091 E-mail : parimalsardar2004@ yahoo.co.in Key Words: Acute toxicity, Cyprinus carpio, Cirrhinus mrigala, Labeo rohita, Sodiun arsenite. The acute toxicity of an inorganic arsenic compound sodium arsenite (NaAsO2) was examined in common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.), mrigal (Cirthinus mrigala H.) and rohu (Labeo rohita H.) and its toxicological effects were compared among above fishes. All fishes were subjected to static bioassays trial in the laboratory for 96 hours to determine the median lethal concentrations (LCs) of NaAsO2. Preliminary trials or range finding tests were conducted to figure out the suitable ranges to be used in the final trials of lethality test. In final trials, mortality of fish was recorded at 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours of exposure. The LCsp values and their 95% confidence limits for different exposure time were calculated by ising computer software ‘Probit Analysis’. After 96 hours of exposure the LCsy value of NaAsO2 was 14.14 ppm (95% confidence limit, 10.95 to 18.26), 12.97 ppm (95% confidence limit, 10.12 to 16.62) and 8.53 ppm (95% confidence limit, 5.11 to 14.24), respectively in common carp, mrigal and rohu. 289.
