Opening/Anticipatory Set: (state objectives, connect to previous learning, and make relevant to real life)
Ask students We have already discussed photosynthesis, particularly how and why the process occurs
in plants. Today we will see what happens to the products of photosynthesis when we eat plants.
Teacher Will:
Use a PowerPoint presentation to lecture
on cellular respiration.

Student Will:
Take notes in their lab notebooks.

Differentiation
Students can be given skeleton notes to fill in the main concepts.
Teacher Will:
Play animations that go over the process
of cellular respiration, pausing throughout the
animation to explain what is being shown.

Student Will:
Watch the animation and add any
additional notes the teacher says to write in
their notebooks.

Independent Practice

Differentiation
Worksheets depicting the animation can be passed out for students who may not be able
to remember the animation right away.
Teacher Will:
Instruct students to complete the Gizmo
activity and the expectations and point value for
the assignment. Also answer any student
questions throughout the online activity.

Student Will:
Complete the activity and fill in the
packet as they progress through the packet.
Ask any questions about the topic or the
online activity.

Differentiation
Students who have difficulty writing the answers may have their partner write them down.

Closure/Lesson Summary: Students will complete a one-sentence reflection about what they learned in
class today.
