Reflection:
I have learned that cellular respiration happens in four steps: Glycolysis, formation
of acetyl CoA, Krebs cycle, and the Electron Transport Chain. I learned well which
part of the mitochondria each step takes place in. Glycolysis take place in the
cytoplasm outside of the mitochondria. Formation of acetyl CoA and the Krebs cycle
takes place in the matrix. Electron Transport Chain takes place in the cristae. To add
to this, I learned that oxygen is the terminal electron acceptor in cellular respiration.
I also learned very well that lactic acid and alcohol fermentation can take place
without the presence of oxygen because they are both forms of fermentation (which
is an anaerobic process). I struggle with remembering the products made in each
step of cellular respiration. To me, it is a lot to remember.
