A NARRATIVE REPORT

ON THE NUTRITION MONTH

CELEBRATION 2015

Obesity in childhood can add up to health problemsoften for life. In

adults, overweight and obesity are linked to increased risk of heart
disease, type 2 diabetes (high blood sugar), high blood pressure,
certain cancers, and other chronic conditions. Research has shown that
obese children are more likely to be overweight or obese as adults
(https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov).
Deficiencies, excesses, and imbalances in diet can negatively influence
health, which may lead to diseases such as cardiovascular disease,
diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis and other weakening diseases. Many
common diseases and ailments can often be avoided or prevented with
proper nutrition and exercise. Exercise is a serious factor of good
health, especially as you age. Exercise will help you sleep better, lose
weight, gain weight, or maintain weight, depending on your needs. It
will also improve your resistance to fight infections, lower your risk of
cancer, heart disease and diabetes and will help your brain work
better, making you smarter.
July is labelled as the countrys Nutrition Month. The National Nutrition
Council (NNC) leads this years Nutrition Month Celebration with the
theme, Timbang Iwasto sa Tamang Nutrition at Ehersisyo which
stresses on the need for proper nutrition and physical activity to
address the issue of being obese and overweight among the general
public. To show our support to the Celebration, the Prudencia D. Fule
Memorial National High School launched a School-Based Nutrition
Month Program last July 1, 2015.
The Technology and Livelihood Education Department of PDFMNHS set
