Fantasy Battles: The 9th Age is a community-made miniatures wargame.

Special Rules
The Blessing
Models with this Special Rule have Ward Save (6+). After all units are deployed, the player may declare that the
Kingdom of Equitaine army is praying before battle, which automatically concedes to the opponent the right to decide
who wins the roll for first turn. If an army has prayed, the Ward Save granted by The Blessing is increased to (5+)
against attacks with Strength 5 or greater. The effect of The Blessing is lost for any model that flees.

Lance Formation
This Special Rule can only be used
when mounted. The
model
gains
Fight in Extra Rank
. When in a unit with 3
model
wide ranks and charging, models with this rule gain an additional instance of Fight in Extra Rank.

Jousting
Models with this rule may switch to another weapon in the second round of combat after charging with a Lance.

Trample
The model gains Stomp (1) in any turn during which it doesn't count as having charged. Only the mount can use this
attack.

Beloved
The model ignores all penalties for refusing a challenge and loses First in Rank when joined to a unit with at least one
Full Rank of models with the
Lance Formation.

Oath of Fealty
Models with this Special Rule have Inspiring Presence regardless of whether they are the General or not. However, only
models with the Insignificant Special Rule may receive this Inspiring Presence and its range is reduced to 6. Characters
and Champions with this rule causes their unit to lose The Blessing if they decline any challenge.

Questing Oath

Grail Oath

Models with this Special Rule have Weapon Masters and


Multiple Wounds (2,
Monstrous Beasts,
Monstrous
Cavalry, Ridden Monsters, Monsters).

Models with this Special Rule are Immune to Psychology,


have a Ward Save (5+) and their attacks are Magical
Attacks and Holy Attacks.

When taking a Panic or a Fear test, units comprised of a


majority of models with this rule roll 3D6 for their
Leadership tests and discard the highest.

Characters with this special rule get +1 weapon skill and


Leadership 9
.

The models may not wield lances.


Characters with this special rule are equipped with a
Bastard Sword (counts as a Halberd)
.

Virtues
Virtues cannot be duplicated within an army.
Zeal
(5 pts)
Your army cannot include Knights of the Realm. You can
upgrade any unit of Knights Aspirant to Crusaders.

Audacity
(

When in base contact with an enemy with either
higher Strength or higher Toughness on their
characteristic profile, the model gains Stubborn
and may reroll all failed to-hit and to-wound rolls.

Humility
(20 pts)
A model with this virtue has Insignificant, has
Inspiring Presence increased to 12 and has Hold
Your Ground regardless of whether they are the Battle
Standard Bearer. However, only models that are
Insignificant may benefit from this Hold Your Ground.

Renown
(

The Character gains
Lethal Strike. On a roll of a natural 6
to wound in Close Combat that wound gains Multiple
Wounds( Ordnance )

Daring
(25 pts)
The models unit adds D3 when determining charge
distance.
Cannot be combined with extra charge
range from Impetuous.

Devotion
(65 pts)
The model gains Otherworldly, Ethereal, Unstable,
Terror, and Ambush. The model must either ride a
Barded Warhorse or be on foot. The character has Not a
Leader, cannot be the Battle Standard Bearer and may
not take Magical Armour.

Valour
(40 pts)
The bearer automatically issues a Challenge
whenever possible and this Challenge is
automatically accepted whenever possible. When in
a Challenge, the model may reroll all failed to-hit
and to-wound rolls.

Piety
(75 pts)
The models Ward Save is increased by +1, to a maximum
of 4+. This bonus is conferred to the non-character
models of any unit it joins. The model may only join
Cavalry
or infantry
units.

Might
(45 pts)
When charging and using a Lance as a Close Combat
weapon, every unsaved wound caused by the
character with normal attacks generates another
attack at the same Initiative step. These do not
generate further attacks. In addition, the Character
gains the
Devastating Charge
and
Thunderous Charge
Special Rules while using a Lance as a close combat
weapon.

Enchanted Items
Blessed Scripture

One use only. This item may be used at the start of any
phase to grant The Blessing to the bearers unit. This
instance of The Blessing counts as if the army had
prayed. This item may allow a unit that has lost The
Blessing to regain it.

Mace of Tristan

Type:
Hand Weapon
. The bearers Strength count as
being 1 higher than the Toughness of the model they are
attacking, unless it is already higher. Whenever an
enemy model suffers one or more hits from this weapon,
roll a dice at the end of current Initiative step. For every
hit, roll a D6, on 4+ one of the Magical Items carried by
the enemy model is randomly destroyed.

Storm Clarion

One use only. This item may be activated at the
start of any player turn. Enemy units cannot make
Flying Movements during this player turn.

All mounts in the bearers unit gain Impact Hits (1).

Crusaders Helm
(45 pts)
Type: Helm (6+ Armour Save). The wearer rerolls all
failed Armour Saves. Attacks made against the wearer
can never gain any benefits from having Lethal Strike.

The Oriflamme
(70 pts)
The bearer causes Fear. Enemy units in base contact
with the bearers unit may not benefit from Hold Your
Ground or Inspiring Presence.

Talismans
Talisman of Roland
(15 pts)
No unit may use the Stand and Shoot reaction when
charged by a character (or its unit) with this item.
Furthermore, the bearer and its unit gain +1 to their
Ward Saves against any non-magical Ranged Attacks
to a
maximum of 3+
.
