Leadership:
I was a residential advisor for a year at Monash Residential Peninsula. Duties
included running events, being a pastoral carer for 15 residents and participating
in meetings to ensure that the students experience at Monash Residential was as
engaging as possible.
Throughout my casual work at Monash Sport I take all opportunities to better the
experience we provide for members. I have used initiative by suggesting new
ideas, discussed procedures with supervisors and provided the opportunity for
other staff members to share their views. In a leadership role, I have provided
training and mentoring for new staff members to support them during their shift.

Teaching Philosophy:
Please see my teaching portfolio: http://sophiereichelt.weebly.com/
Career Objective:

I often draw upon the skills I have gained through my tertiary studies, placement
experiences and casual work as a means of problem solving, communicating
with others and leading by example. These experiences have provided me with
the necessary skills I need to educate and provide the most engaging learning
environment for my students to grow and develop.

I am extremely passionate about leading a fit and healthy lifestyle. I believe

when we are educated about our health both physically and mentally we are
giving ourselves the best opportunity to be as happy as we can, which is the core
of success in life. I am dedicated to helping others achieve their health goals, as
seen through my work at Monash Sport and through the training methods I have
developed during tertiary PE and Outdoor Education studies.
Teaching Philosophy:
At the core of my teaching philosophy I believe building relationships and rapport
with students will provide the best learning experience. Building relationships
demonstrates effective communication skills, trustworthiness, respect, honesty,
resilience, flexibility and self-confidence. These relationships improve teachers
capacity to view students holistically, always reflecting on the effect school has
on their life and their life has on their learning.
I believe in always growing as an educator, finding new engaging and innovative
teaching strategies to make learning as exciting as possible. Moving outside of
the classroom and using the natural environment as a learning tool is an
opportunity I take advantage of, also as a means of giving the students who may
not be passionate about competitive sport an alternative to learn to love
movement and physical activity. Acknowledging the growth in technology and
accepting and utilising the incredible learning tools we have access to is one of
my passions. My overall goal is for students to have the skills and learning to
make educated decisions regarding their health and in turn, overall happiness in
their future life after school.
