Get ready for an exciting school year!

Welcome back! I hope each of you had a
productive, exciting, and maybe even relaxing
summer off. It is time for us to get back in school
and I sure have an exciting year planned for all of
us!
We will have a lot of fun hands on work so the key
to success in this class is for the student to have
their materials prepared before coming to class. I
am thrilled to having your child in my class and my
mission is to simply foster a fun and creative
learning environment where your child learns the
concepts thoroughly, gains confidence and
experience with the material, and has fun doing it
at the same time!

How to Get a Good Grade

Grading for this class is straightforward. The major
portion of the grade is your child having their lab
notebook prepared before coming to class. They
will have daily and weekly assignments, content
quizzes, a midterm, and a final. I have provided an
overview of grading rubric I use:
Notebook Prep Daily Grade 10pts x 180 = 1800
Weekly content essay

50pts x 25 =

1250

End of week quiz

50pts x 25 =

1250

Midterm

350pts x 1 =

350

Final Exam
Total Possible Points

350pts x 1 =

350
5000

Role of Technology in the Classroom

Your child is probably already familiar with many
forms of technology. In this class, we will use
computers regularly. I strive to teach good digital
citizenship and respectful use of technology to all
students. Exposure to a variety of technologies,
software programs, and internet resources is
essential to your childs future. Please refer to the
class website for a presentation on Cyber Dangers
and be sure to discuss these with your child. I will
also be reinforcing these concepts throughout the
school year. Also please keep in mind the following
considerations:

All basic and smartphones must be on silent

during class.
No child is ever permitted to accept or
make a call during class, unless an explicit
emergency.
All resources your child needs to be
successful are available in the classroom.
