THE LAND Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has warned

jeepney drivers that they could be fined for overcharging should they refuse to
follow the provisional P7 minimum fare.
Board member Ariel Inton issued the warning following complaints that some
jeepney drivers were insisting that a fare matrix must first be issued before the
rollback could take effect.
Under the rules, the provisional rate becomes effective upon publication in a
newspaper of general circulation; there is no need for a fare matrix, Inton said.

Senior citizens, students and persons with disabilities are still entitled to the 20
percent discount, he stressed, adding that overcharging carries a penalty of P5,000
under Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-001.
The LTFRB approved the 50-centavo fare rollback on Jan. 21 which took effect in
Metro Manila and Regions 3 and 4.
