Director, New Student Services


South Seattle College-Seattle, WA (October 2012-Present)
Implement strategic direction of New Student Services department
o Successfully partnered to expand Student Outreach, Admissions, &
Recruitment (SOAR) department to integrate Title III and Pathways to
Completion Grant services into institutionalized department when grants
expired in 2014-2015. New Student Services now focuses on Outreach,
Intake, Orientation, and Veteran Support Services.
o 1 full-time, and 2 part-time in SOAR has now expanded to 6 full-time and 2
part-time positions for New Student Services.
Administer budget of $260,000 of personnel, benefits, travel, and goods and
services.
Supervises 4 Specialists (Outreach Specialist, Intake Development Specialist,
Orientation Student Success Specialist, and the Veterans Transitions Specialist)
who serve as key implementers for each area of New Student Services, our
department Program Assistant, and 2 part-time hourly staff.
Develop and coordinate professional development opportunities for staff to enhance
skills and knowledge
Oversee continuous development of:

Enrollment support tools and publications-Steps to Enroll,


funding guides, enrollment e-communication campaigns, target population
communications

Peer Navigator Program-Student leaders provide 1:1


support for new and continuing students who have questions about the
campus. They staff our front-desk services and respond to campus inquiries.
Navigators provide outreach to current students on student success
resources and prospective students for enrollment support.

Information Desk Services-Counselor Services check-in,


and general resources for anyone who needs support navigating the
campus.

In-person and online mandatory New Student Orientation

Veteran outreach, enrollment, and persistence support


Collaborate across the Seattle Colleges District to share best practices and align
services for outreach, enrollment, and data collection.

Create and maintain community partnerships focused on college access and


student success
Collaborate with the Public Information Office to facilitate the implementation of new
Customer Relations Management system and strategic marketing communications
Research and promote strategic enrollment best practices aligned in SSCs
Strategic Plan
Lead division in special projects related to campus strategic priorities- Customer
Service Standards, Career Exploration, Undecided Student Interventions, Student
Success Courses, and Strategic Student Success Communications.
