Windows Professional
DCOM 201

Course Description: The purpose of the course is to enable students to install,


configure, manage, and maintain Microsoft Windows Professional (including
Windows 7 and 8) in a Windows networking environment. Using an on-line format,
students will learn how to create user accounts, configure networking protocols,
establish network connectivity, configure security, share folders, install devices,
manage disks and data storage, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot
common problems. This course is designed for a student pursuing a career as a
network technician, network administrator, or network engineer.

A. Requirements
Weekly quizzes 33% (you have unlimited attempts to take the quizzes)
Mid-term exam 33%
Final exam 33%

B. Grading Policy Make-ups will be allowed for students who have excused
absences, which include documented sickness, death in the family, or religious
holiday.
C. Attendance policy Although not required, students should attend login and work
on the class several times a week. Students who fail to do the work usually fail the
course.
D. Audit policy To earn audit credit, students must complete all work.

IV. Course Procedures


A. Course-related policies and procedures: This course is a fully on-line course: For
each section, students will watch the on-line video, read the on-line text, perform
the hands-on exercises, and complete the on-line quizzes.
