Visual Concept
My visual concept was inspired by sailor myths and sea monsters. I wanted my animation to
be like a mad mans tale about the great Leviathan, only instead of being about a sea creature
its about bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics.

The narrator is meant to be paranoid and anxious, like a crazy man you might see sitting in
the corner of a pub muttering absurd stories. In the animation, he starts with a rant about the
monster but then backtracks and introduces the bacteria. The viewer gets to witness what
the narrator was talking about as the bacteria can be seen adapting and mutating to resist the
antibiotics. The narrator then concludes with a final warning to the viewer about the use of
antibiotics and the Leviathan.

I was inspired by images of kelp forests for my environment and animals such as the Angler
Fish, the Moray Eel, and the Giant Tigerfish for my bacteria. I was also influenced by old
sailor myths, films such as Jaws, video games such as Subnautica, and various artists.
