    Archaeological excavations were conducted at land near Anslow’s Cottages, Burghfield, Berkshire situated directly south of the River Kennet. They revealed earlier courses of the river channel associated with timber structures dating to the later Bronze Age. A wicker basket was also recovered from river channel deposits, which could have been used as a net in a fish trap. Ditches, postholes and pits were found nearby and some contained burnt flints, knapped flints, fired clay and sherds of Bronze Age pottery. One pit contained an upright vessel often associated with Bronze Age cremations.
