American racism has
been eective and aecting American
citizens of all cultural backgrounds
since the 17th Century, when slave
trade came to America, the foundation
of racism was and is based on social
status. America is a diverse culturally
blended mosaic, yet society still judges
every person (piece) based on color of
skin. The reality is that racism is a
social idea, based on what people look
like, where they come from or live, and
how they are taught and act, because
there is truly only the Human Race.

Before slaves first came to

America in 1619, social status was
based on the amount of money a
person had, the richer someone was,
the higher in society they were. Slaves
were considered property during the
time of slavery, which only boosted the
social status of the owners. During
Abraham Lincolns Presidential term,
he issued the Emancipation

Proclamation in 1863. This

proclamation declared that all slaves in
America are, and henceforth shall be
free. This equality movement did not
stop the prejudicial thoughts of
Africans, that they were a lower class
of humans compared to the white
aristocratic population. Skin color then
came into consideration when
determining ones location in the social
status ladder.

These new ideas that the

people with the dark skin were not
equal began to be the problem that
had been happening throughout
human history, the hatred of dierence.
In Marc Aronsons book, Race, the
author explains that the hatred of
dierence and racial prejudice are not
the same, although they are linked, the
idea of hating those who were dierent
is only the base thought of racial
prejudice. Dierences were always
able to be seen, in ancient time there
was no reason that the enemies were
of a dierent race, but as society
developed, a new idea began to form:
those who were dierent were indeed a
dierent race. Marc Aronson links this
explanation to the past and present, It
hints at the concept of ranking, which
would be so important in the idea of
race (15).

As early as 1970s scientists

had proven that there were only one
race of humans, and therefore racial
terms are senseless. The concept of

racism is bogus, deceitful, imaginary,

and built on false pretenses. Richard
Williams, better known as Prince Ea, is
an activist on social issues and made a
statement about racism, People are
being seen through judgmental,
prejudicial, artificial filters. Prejudice
comments are invalid notions, and are
being used for both positive and
negatives outcomes. Luckily there are
people that will hear these false
accusations and prove the instigators
wrong. Not only are there people that
will abuse the idea that they are
inferior, willingly accepting special
treatment established on corrupt
thoughts, but there are others that use
racism to mistreat and mislead
others for their own gain, politicians are
a great example of this action.

The blinding era of racism

has caused additional prejudice
through the act of labeling and
classifying people in society. There is a
distorted image of who and what
matters, which motivates segregation
and the non-acceptance of dierences.
We are in the danger zone of
destroying a civil society, the ending to
this war can be in sight. The Human
Race has two choices, either the
destructive path of ignoring the
evidence that all humans are equal, or
the path of healing from this
catastrophe of racism, the way of
thorough recognition and sheer
acceptance of all humans.
