METHOD COMPARISON BETWEEN

IBS WITH CONVENTIONAL METHOD

When compared with conventional methods, IBS provides a lower cost and faster
construction. In terms of the number and amount of labour required in IBS, it is also lower
than the conventional method of construction. In the use of tools and heavy machinery,
construction IBS requires the use of tools and heavy machinery. This is because IBS involves
the use of a mold, mold steel panels and blocks. Only the prefabricated panels that require the
use of heavy machinery and equipment during the installation process and the establishment
of a panel.

The use of pre-cast concrete in building construction is still at a low level and it is focused
on public construction only. According to IBS Survey 2003, only 15 % of construction using
IBS. The contractors prefer to use conventional methods although this method need a lot of
times, requires a lot of labour, worker safety is uncertain, waste construction materials and
the quality of work is uncertain. Long construction period for conventional methods because
of the weather, concrete curing period, the situation of labour and so on. In addition, current
construction work is often behind the planned established by the contractor. IBS is able to
solve some problems that slow the process of building such a structure was completely
poured and cured in the factory and shipped to the construction site regardless of the weather.

Usually contractors consider pre-cast structural system is a complex construction methods

and high costs but actually it is not so . If they can plan the construction process in an orderly
and systematic, IBS can save budget than the conventional method of construction.
