CHAPTER V

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION


This chapter presents the summary, conclusions of the study as well as the
recommendations based on the researcher's findings.
Summary
The main purpose of this study was to identify the BEED Pre-Service
Teachers' Motivation to the Teaching Profession at Batangas State University Rosario, during the School Year 2015-2016. It involved forty eight (48) senior and
junior students of the College of Teacher Education as respondents. The
descriptive type of research was employed by the researchers with the
questionnaire as the major instrument used in gathering data. The statistical tools
used were Frequency Distribution, Percentage, Ranking and Weighted Mean and
Chi-Square.
Specifically, this study aims to determine and assess the motivating factors
to pursue the profession among Pre-Service Teachers at Batangas State UniversityRosario. Moreover, the level of respondents' awareness in the teaching profession
in terms of teaching benefits, academic preparation, classroom management and
administrative task of teachers was also considered. The responses of the
respondents were considered to identify if significant relationship between the
extent of motivation of the respondents and the level of awareness in teaching

profession exists. Lastly, based from the findings of the study, some strategies are
proposed to enhance the pre-service teachers' motivation to the teaching
profession.
Findings
Based on the presentation, analysis and interpretation of data that have been
conducted, the researchers came up with the following results:
1. Motivating factors to pursue the profession
There were 48 respondents used in the study, there are 32 junior students
and 16 senior students. The majority of them were motivated to pursue the
profession to a great extent because of their strong passion for the profession.
2. The level of respondents' awareness in the teaching profession
The respondents are very much aware of the teaching profession in terms
of teaching benefits, academic preparation, classroom management and
administrative task of teachers.
3. Significant relationship between the extent of motivation and the level of
awareness.
The computed t value for the extent of motivation is greater than the tabular
t value which means there is significant relationship between the respondents
extent of motivation to pursue the profession and their level of awareness of

teaching

benefits,

academic

preparation,

classroom

management

and

administrative task of teachers.


4. Plan of Action developed in order to enhance the pre-service teachers'
motivation to the teaching profession.
Strategies that could enhance the Pre-Service teachers motivation to the
profession are laid down on the plan of action. Such strategies are directed towards
their

awareness

of teaching

benefits,

academic

preparation,

classroom

management and administrative tasks.


Conclusion
The study was conducted to assess the BEED Pre-Service Teachers'
Motivation to the Teaching Profession at Batangas State University - Rosario.
From the results of the study, the researchers concluded that:
1. Majority of the respondents were motivated to a great extent by their strong
passion for the profession.
2. With the composite means of 4.40, 4.64, 4.70 and 4.66 respectively, it can be
said that majority of the respondents are very much aware of the teaching benefits,
academic preparation, classroom management and administrative task of teachers.
3. There is significant relationship between the respondents extent of motivation
and level of awareness in the teaching profession.

4. Plan of Action was proposed to enhance the Pre-Service Teachers' Motivation to


the Teaching Profession.
Recommendation
The foregoing findings and conclusions paved way for the researchers to
recommend the following:
1. The researchers recommend that the College of Teacher Education use the
proposed Plan of Action to enhance the Pre-Service Teachers Motivation for the
teaching profession.
2. The proposed plan of action maybe validated and evaluated so they may be
utilized not only by the institution but also in academic world.
3. Future researchers should conduct further researchers to validate and strengthen
the findings of the study.
