Summary of Tasks/Actions
Segment 1: Students will enter the media center and sit on the floor. After a brief
introduction, I will read My, Oh My, a Butterfly. When I have finished reading, I will ask
questions about the four stages of the life cycle of the butterfly.
Segment 2: The students will watch a video about the lifecycle of the butterfly.
Segment 3: Students will play a matching game on the Promethean Board about the life cycle
of the butterfly.
Segment 4: I will explain to the students the picture they will be creating and will show them
an example of a finished product. I will place the example on the board for the class to refer
to, and I will also have pictures of the butterfly life cycle at each table for students to refer to
for spelling and placement accuracy. Students will create a picture of the life cycle of the
butterfly using different shaped pasta. They will label their picture with each stage and attach
the appropriately shaped pasta with the correct stage. I will then take 3 volunteers to tell the
class about their picture.
