oil on the fire of this dispute, and now
everyone has to take a side in this
awkward argument on defending and
prosecuting a
Native American name. I dont know whether our
attachment to a particular name should override the real legitimate
concerns that people have about these things, Obama said
in an
interview
FridaywithTheAssociatedPress.
Obama, who roots for
baseball, football and basketball
teams from Chicago, said he did
not think that the fans of the
Redskins were deliberately trying
to offend Native Americans, but
advocacy groups and at least 10
members of
Congress who insist
that the Redskins name is
derogatory are likely to embrace his
comments.
However, Dan Snyder, theRedskins coach, dogmatically refuses
to change the name. One of the lawyers for the team point that polls
suggest otherwise. According to polls, many people agree on the
appropriateness of the Redskins, and Native Americans are okay with

Many college teams have changed nicknames and mascots in the
last few decades. Teams at St. Johns, for instance, are now known as
the Red Stormrather than the Redmen. Stanfordteamsareknownasthe

Imagine going scuba diving and you suddenly see a broken subway car
sittingatthebottomoftheocean. Nowimaginegoingbacktothesameplace20
years later, seeing the old subway car now covered in various colored coral. I
thinkthatthrowingbigobjectslikeoilrigsandbroken
cars into the ocean should be legal. People have
alreadybeen doingthisfrom Florida,toNewJersey,
to California. Throwing big chunks of metal into the
ocean may seem like littering, but it is actually a
good surface for a reef to start growing. Once
dumped to the bottom of the sea, small sea
creatures like plankton and mollusks grip on to
the metal. Different kinds of coral grasp to the
metal, coloring the surrounding area and
providing food for various species of fish. Not
only to these artificial reefs bring the ocean
much more beauty and color, theyalsoprotect
the ecosystem. The small openings of our discarded objects are too small for

Transgender Discrimination
Transgender discrimination is a challenge many people between
genders face, especially transgender people of color. Jobs, housing,
and restrooms are just a few things that trans people have trouble
with because of discrimination from other non-trans people.
Job discrimination is a huge problem for transgender people.
90% of transgenders have reported about being harassed at work for
being who they are. About half of transgender people have been fired
or denied a promotion. 14% of transgender people are unemployed
and 15 % only earn $10,000 or less a year.
19% of trans people were denied housing and 11% were evicted
from their homes leaving 19% homeless. In addition, many homeless
shelters dont accept people like them. This is an effect of transgender
discrimination (

).
Transgender People are constantly being pushed around about
which restroom to use. Many actions, such as the
bill in Tennessee
,
say that they should use the restroom that matches their gender at
birth; but, on the contrary, other organizations like a synagogue in
Portland put up a sign near the bathrooms that said To all
transgender people, use whichever restroom you feel comfortable in.
Transgender discrimination is like the African Americans
discrimination all over again. Except this time transgender is the new
African American. Who wants bad history to repeat itself? To help
the transgender friendly movement hire, house, and respect
transgender people! Besides, they do make up 1.7% of Americas
population and the number is growing! Transgender discrimination
needs to end!

ElephantCruelty
Despite the fact that the elephants look happyandenergetic upon the
performing stage, the elephants are continuously
tortured backstage to secure absolute behavior.
Elephants are used like tools to satisfy people and

Two elephants on the road with a circus

Sadly, that's not all the abuse these animals have been forced to endure in
recent days. Earlier this week, prior to a circus show in New Orleans, these

Control and Prevention. The CDC reports that 46 million Americans age 18 years and older
smoke cigarettes, 443,000 smoking-related deaths occur annually in the U.S.
Smoking affects the population in many ways. It affects smokers' health and
controls their smoking habits and use of time, and the spiraling cost of tobacco makes it an
expensive pastime. Secondhand smoke affects others and pollutes the environment.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, children are susceptible to the effects of
secondhand smoke because they are growing and developing. Children exposed to
secondhand smoke have increased risks of sudden infant death syndrome, middle ear
infection, asthma, pneumonia and bronchitis.
Toxins in cigarettes, particularly carbon monoxide and free
radicals(an uncharged molecule), inhibit your blood from
flowing through the body. The CDC explains that this is caused
by a narrowing of the blood vessels. All major organs, such as
the brain and heart, the muscles and tissues in the body all rely
on proper blood circulation in order to receive oxygen and
nutrients. Other organs such as the liver require proper
circulation in order to transport toxins out of the body. Reduced blood circulation affects
your body in numerous ways. According to the Better Health Channel, reduced circulation
causes high blood pressure, increased heart rate, blood clots, arterial wall buildup and
decreased body temperature. In addition, decreased blood circulation can cause problems
in your toes and fingers; amputation may be required in severe cases.

Graffiti is Art
Is graffiti art or vandalism? Although it should be illegal to spray
graffiti all over private property it is considered a form of art. It goes
along the lines of the definition of art. It is an
expression or application
of human creative skill and imagination.
If abstract art is called art so should graffiti. Abstract art is like
graffiti. It has tons of different colors, and not very realistic. There was
once an abstract picture with tons of stick figures in war that was sold
for 1,000,500 dollars. Its the same there are non-realistic things like
purple faces, but there are also things that a 5 year old can draw for
example stick figures. There is a difference but an 100,500 dollar
painting of stick figures? Anybody can draw that.
one quote art is in the eye of the beholder. Represents this many
think it is and that is what this argument is about. Many see it as a form
of fantastic art while others see it as a rude disruptive awful childs
game. In truth it can be art. There is a museum with the history of
graffiti, and it is becoming famous.
Many famous artists were once Graffiti artists. Graffiti is a start for
many great artists. They take it as a fine art that is not inappropriate
but a good art. The skill requires to make graffiti is hard that is why
people have such talent to do things so good in little time.
Graffiti started as drawing on walls by cavemen and went to
Romans claiming territory. It is a thing to remember people by. Graffiti
is an ancient art. People should have some space to leave their mark so
they can be ancient legends when the time comes.

extended periods of time can result in lifelong hearing loss for children and
teens," says Dr. Foy, "Even a mild hearing loss due to excessive noise could
lead to developmental delays in speech and language for the childs future."
If your headphones are put at a to high volume, you can get mild or
even serious injuries in your ear for less than 1 hour and 15 minutes. Though
it is okay to listen to music on headphones, you should try to limit how much
you use headphones, and turn your sound to the lowest sound possible.
The signs of hearing loss vary, they can cause ringing, roaring, buzzing,
hissing, and it also makes a muffled noise in your ear making it hard to hear.
Earlier this year, the World Health Organization warned that 1.1 billion
young people are at risk of hearing loss because of personal audio devices,
such as smartphones, ipads, laptops, ipods, and damaging levels of sound at
entertainment venues like electronic dance music festivals, where noise
levels can top 120 decibels for hours. This can cause serious injuries to
children, teens, and adults of any age. Therefore, I think you should be
allowed to listen to music as long as it the volume is low.
